What is Pilates?

Pilates is a low impact form of exercise that focuses on deepening your awareness and strengthening your deeper layer of muscles, frequently referred to as your 'core'.  By strengthening these muscles you can improve your overall posture, help to manage and reduce pain, enhance relaxation and boost your overall sense of well-being.

Keep Fit and Improve Flexibility

Pilates is a great way to keep fit.  Being a low impact exercise it can be easier on your joints allowing you to move mindfully and pain free.  You might not necessarily work up a 'sweat' with Pilates but you should feel as though you have worked your body.   Over 70% of Louise's clients noticed that their overall health improved with a weekly Pilates class.  A regular Pilates class can help you to improve in other activities too from running and cycling to Zumba and gardening.  Understanding how your body works as a whole can help reduce injury and in many cases improve overall performance.

Pilates is for anyone, whatever your age or ability.  Pilates matwork is based on Joseph Pilates's orginal matwork series of  34 exercises. These can be easily adapted to suit each and every individual.  Whatever your current level of fitness or medical diagnosis a Pilates class can work for you.
